Alabama high school softball has had its fair share of powerful players and teams. This season is no different.
Libby Baker and her G.W. Long softball teammates finished a record-breaking season with the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 2A championship.

The Rebels (54-3) sailed through the state tournament undefeated. They won a pair of games Wednesday and then defeated Collinsville 13-3 and Hatton for the second time in two days to finish the repeat.
The star – as she has been all season – was Troy signee Libby Baker. The senior homered again in the title game – her 37th of the year and 87th of her career – and struck out 17 in a complete game effort. She allowed just one hit and walked three.
“Absolutely,” Baker said when asked if the long day was worth it. “That was awesome. Everyone was up because we had to wait so long, but it was definitely worth it.”
Baker's career and season home run totals are both national records, as is Long's team season total of 89, pending a verification process.
