Oklahoma baseball player Jordan Spurlock of Inola (Oklahoma) High School accomplished two national records this season (pending state association approval).

Spurlock broke the national record of number of times hit by a pitch in a season and tied the national record of number of times hit by a pitch in a game.

He was hit by a pitch 31 times during games this season and hit by a pitch four times in the team’s April 10 game against Tulsa Will Rogers High School.

The previous record for most times hit by a pitch in a season was 29 times held by Nick LaCross (Michigan) and Kenny Redding (Oklahoma). Spurlock now shares the record for most times hit by a pitch in a game with Guy Ball (Michigan) and Spencer Wiskus (Iowa).

Spurlock, a sophomore, was hit by a pitch 24 times last season, bringing his career mark to 55 times hit by a pitch and good for fourth nationally. The national record for most times hit by a pitch in a career is 65 times held by Lucas Weitzel (Florida).
